The documentation for Sunrise is a work in progress... The main
repository of documents describing how to compile and use Sunrise is the
Wiki on the Sunrise
Google Code project page where users can contribute documentation.
Any help would be most appreciated, so if you have a write-up about
how to build or run Sunrise, please contribute.
If you need help, post a message in
the
Sunrise
discussion group. (Due to spam bots, you have to request to be
signed up before you can post). Using the group is preferable to
sending me email directly, as the information then is searchable by
others.
Scientific Publications
The journal articles that describe the problem Sunrise solves and the
algorithm used are:
- The basic functionality, including the polychromatic radiation
transfer algorithm, is described in "Sunrise: Polychromatic Dust Radiative Transfer in Arbitrary
Geometries", Jonsson 2006, MNRAS, 372, 2
- The IR emission and MAPPINGS models of star-forming regions
are described in "High-Resolution Panchromatic Spectral Models of Galaxies
including Photoionisation and Dust", Jonsson, Groves & Cox
2010, MNRAS, 403, 17
- The GPU-accelerated dust SED calculation included in version
3.02+ is described in "Accelerating Dust Temperature
Calculations with Graphics Processing Units", Jonsson &
Primack 2010, New Astronomy, 15, 509
- If you want the really gory details of how Sunrise works (at
least early versions), you
can also look at my Ph.D. thesis from 2004: PDF
for printing (2.6MB, for duplex) or PDF
for computer browsing (2.6MB, with hyperlinks)
Code Documentation
The code itself
is
documented using
Doxygen. This is the place to go for browsing through the
actual code. Unfortunately, there is currently no good
high-level
overview of the code design.
Bugs
There is a
Bugzilla bug database
for Sunrise at
http://governator.ucsc.edu/bugs. Currently down.
